Orlando’s simulation industry is straight out of Tomorrowland, powered by more than 60 years of research and development, a workforce more than 60,000 strong, billions of dollars’ worth of investment and an ecosystem of connected infrastructure and specialized centers of excellence. From our early aviation roots as a training center for military pilots and later a community built to win the space race, Orlando’s storyline is one that begins and remains one of a community that welcomes and embraces simulation innovation. On an annual basis, over $6 billion in modeling, training and simulation contracts flows through the Central Florida region. From aerospace and defense to education, healthcare and gaming, Orlando’s simulation technology sector is behind innovations with global impact.

Simulation Degree Programs in Orlando

A steady flow of new talent drives Orlando’s tech workforce of tomorrow, with four area universities offering modeling and simulation degree programs.

Major Developments

It’s more than fun and games – there’s serious business happening here. From aerospace and defense to education, healthcare and gaming, Orlando’s simulation technology is behind innovations with global impact.

VA Medical Simulation Center: SimLEARN

The Simulation Learning, Education and Research Network (SimLEARN) is the largest medical simulation center in the country. Serving the largest integrated health care system in the world, VHA’s SimLEARN provides an ever-growing body of curricula and best practices that improve health care for the nation’s veterans.

JetBlue University’s Orlando Support Campus

Nearly every single one of JetBlue’s new hires train each year at the Orlando International Airport (MCO). JetBlue’s presense at MCO includes its Orlando Support Center, which houses JetBlueU – a simulation training facility for crew members and all of its pilots – as well as The Lodge, a 196-room hotel for employees visiting the facility.

A Thriving Ecosystem

Industry Assets

Orlando’s established simulation technology industry cluster has grown due to supportive R&D and funding partners like the annual I/ITSEC conference and the National Center for Simulation.

I/ITSEC is the world’s largest modeling, simulation and training event held in Orlando every year.

National Center for Simulation (NCS)

The mission of NCS is to serve as the nation’s focal point and as a catalyst for the development, understanding, and advancement of simulation and related technologies; to improve defense readiness and facilitate space exploration; to support education and training initiatives; and to extend useful applications of simulation.

Featured Locations for Simulation Facilities

Orlando is a cost-effective location, whether you plan to build, buy or lease.

Central Florida Research Park

The Central Florida Research Park is a campus-like environment for business, located adjacent to the University of Central Florida. Businesses that desire a “university relationship” can purchase land in the Research Park on which to construct a facility or can lease space for office, office/lab or light manufacturing uses.

Lake Nona

Home to the VHA’s program for simulation in health care training, the Simulation Learning, Education and Research Network (SimLEARN), Lake Nona Medical City is a premier location for medical care, research and education.
